Data Accuracy & Sources

Last updated: 30 March 2026

Our commitment

Helira aims to show you the most accurate, up-to-date fuel prices, EV data, charger availability, and solar calculations we can. Here is exactly how our data works — what we source, how often it updates, and where the limitations are.

Fuel price data

StateSourceUpdate frequencyTypical delay
NSW & ACTNSW FuelCheck APIDaily (6 AM AEST)Up to 24 hours
QLDQLD Open Data PortalDaily (6 AM AEST)Up to 24 hours
WAWA FuelWatch RSSDaily (6 AM AEST)Up to 24 hours
VIC, SA, TAS, NTPending (government API applications submitted)

Important: Prices shown may not reflect the current price at the bowser. Stations can change prices at any time, and our data may be up to 24 hours behind. Always confirm the price before filling up.

EV data

Electric vehicle specifications (range, battery capacity, pricing, efficiency) are sourced from manufacturer data and the Green Vehicle Guide. We currently track 77 EV models from 18 makes available in Australia.

EV prices shown are recommended retail prices (RRP) and may not include on-road costs, dealer markups, or current promotions. Efficiency figures are based on WLTP ratings and real-world consumption may vary by 10-20%.

Charger data

EV charger locations, availability, and specifications are sourced from Open Charge Map, a crowd-sourced global database. Charger data may be outdated — availability, pricing, and connector types can change without notice. Always verify charger status before travelling.

Solar calculations

Solar payback estimates use average solar irradiance data for your state, typical panel efficiency degradation rates, and average electricity and feed-in tariff rates. Actual solar performance depends on roof orientation, shading, panel quality, inverter efficiency, and your energy retailer's specific rates.

Solar calculations are estimates only. Get quotes from at least three accredited solar installers before making a purchase decision.

AI-generated content

Helira uses Anthropic Claude (AI) to generate price predictions, EV recommendations, solar analysis, and chat responses. AI outputs are estimates based on the data available at the time of the request and may contain inaccuracies.

AI features are clearly labelled throughout the platform. All AI responses include a disclaimer. AI output is general information, not financial advice.

Reporting errors

If you spot an incorrect fuel price, outdated EV specification, or any other data error, please let us know at hello@helira.com.au. You can also use the in-app price reporting feature to flag incorrect fuel prices at specific stations.
